Wednesday wonders..

Tuesday was such a delightful day..
moderate temps.. slight breeze..
not quite as much humidity..
perfect for FINALLY getting my plants into the ground..

But..
a word of warning..
be very careful in those flower beds..

due to super wet/flooding conditions..
many critters are seeking higher ground..
such as this fella who greeted the pest control man..

he was my front door greeter!

turned out to be a common garter snake..
probably only a few days old..
they are born live in batches of 50-100!

he was maybe 9 inches long and the diameter of a pencil!
he stood his ground, snapping at the camera flash..
he was relocated to the jungle across the road!
Please be careful while in those flower beds..
someone else may be lurking under the mulch!
enjoy your day..it's beautiful here!

Monday Monday!

After a WET and Wild weekend,
Monday has arrived with a glorious promise..
at least for the moment..
I'm hearing the same old tired song with these lyrics:
"Partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and a chance of rain, then thunderstorms and rain showers in the afternoon. High of 86F with a heat index of 91F. Winds less than 5 mph. Chance of rain 60% with rainfall amounts near 0.3 in. possible.Rain or not..
too much on my agenda to let anyone dampen my spirits or rain on my parade..

After losing my beautiful Cat Ballou this past Friday..

Saturday found me following through with already made plans..
Volunteered at Pet Smart for Paws 'n Claws Kitty Adoptathon..

What a rewarding experience! To play with, cuddle, pamper and love fuzzy feline furbabies for three hours!
Met some of the nicest folks with such adorable childen..

all out on a wet Saturday..
In memory of Ballou, I will be volunteering as often as possible..
On the way home, stopped to check out a new place..
... Blue Heron,fine gifts..
such a variety of beautiful artworks of different mediums..
paintings, pottery, jewelry, castings.. I fell in love! You will also!

WOW! so glad I did! Met the owner,Dennis who allowed me free reign with the Nikon.. They too are animal lovers.. will be featuring a charity event in September for the Humane Society..
Now I'm off to join Sally and Susan the crew for

Wonderful Wednesday...

Up early to greet this beautiful morning...
One thing about living in Paradise, there is never a dull moment in the weather..
Every day holds a myriad of views..
Rain always adds sparkle and shine..and STEAM!
so I am much appreciative of sunrises and sunsets..
each morning, I snap a few from my front door to share..
hope you'll join me in enjoying my view...
First look..steamy downpour...

to ever changing cloud colors..
..to the promise of yet another beautiful day!
enjoy!

Blue Monday

The past few months have been rough..
My younger brother was diagnosed with cancer in  early June..
his fight/battle ended on August 6, 2013.
It is my firm belief that if one utilizes the screening tools for early detection, one can avoid, if not be  cured of this cursed and dreaded disease. Because he had not put any wishes into writing, I as his Power of Attorney made decisions for his care and final commital..
Fortunately, due to skilled and compassionate nursing care, his final days were comfortable and pain-free. His son and former wife were with him during those last breaths..
A Viet Nam veteran, he now rests at Barrancas National Cemetery located at NAS Pensacola Florida..
