Then the main event on Saturday morning, October 27, 9:15 a.m., The 4th annual Making Waves to Wipe Out Ovarian Cancer, a 4 mile walk/run and 1 mile fun walk to raise awareness and research funding. The walk starts and ends at the World Famous Flora-Bama. Registration fee is $100 per person with 100 percent of race registration benefiting the Florida Hospital Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research. Additional household members can register under an already registered family member for an additional $25 per person. Teams of 5 can register for just $400, and active military and families are just $25. Kids 13 to 18 years of age are just $25. Ovarian cancer survivors can register for $25 and will receive a special ribbon to be worn throughout the day in honor of their survival. We encourage you to dress-up, have fun and make this an experience you will never forget.
Our local community officials, Gulf Shores Mayor Craft, Orange Beach Mayor Kennon, Pensacola Mayor Hayward and Escambia County Commissioners have all proclaimed the last Saturday of October as Wonderful Wacky Women Day from now to eternity. Commissioner Gene Valentino will be part of our opening ceremonies, where there will be live broadcasting by Lisa Christian of Sunny 105.7.
We are also throwing a “Party Like There is No More Cancer” after the race with live music by Smokin Elvis’s. We need you to get onbaord and support our cause to wipe out ovarian cancer. Thanks to many of your donations, we have a great silent auction and bucket raffle planned with many exclusive items. Don’t miss this opportunity to bid on once in a lifetime items. All proceeds will benefit the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute in Mobile and Covenant Hospice in Pensacola.
Ovarian cancer once was called the silent killer. We speak out throughout the year, so that women and health providers know to listen for the symptoms of this deadly disease. Our ultimate goal is to save women’s lives. The following symptoms are much more likely to occur in women with ovarian cancer than women in the general population: Bloating; Pelvic or abdominal pain; Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly; Urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency).
Women should see a doctor, preferably a gynecologist, if they have these symptoms more than 12 times in the course of a month. Unfortunately, these symptoms are often missed or dismissed by women and their health care providers, leading to late diagnosis of the disease. Fewer than 20 percent of women are diagnosed in the early stages of ovarian cancer, when survival rates are highest.
The RRWWW was established as a non-profit in 2009. We began raising awareness and research funding for ovarian cancer in 2010. Because there is no early diagnostic tool, the awareness is so very important. So 100 percent of race registration fees will benefit the Florida Hospital Foundation for Ovarian Cancer. To donate, make checks payable to The Sacred Sisterhood of Wonderful Wacky Women, Redneck Riviera Chapter, INC., 14054 Waterview Drive, Pensacola, FL 32507. A Big Wonderful Wacky Thank You to our 2012 Sponsors. With your help, we are able to make a difference in the fight against ovarian cancer.

Wednesday.. Both Indoors and Out

I've a confession..
I have a secret place to shop..

and while away the time..
much asI did at City Floral back in Denver..
My new "place" is not a Nursery for plants..

however it is an amazing place for cultivating.. friendships..
which I've managed to do..
more friendsisters of the heart...
so talented and delightful..

but first..a peek at their treasures..

a beautiful Blue Crab mural adorns the wall..
First view from the doorway..
picture yourself in this gorgeous beachy room...
it can be in a cottage by the sea..
or a cabin in the woods...
Beachy is always a state of mind..
starting with accessories for the mantle...
With an old wirebasket filled with comft toss pillows..
And a few more pillows for the bed..
There's no such thing as having "too many pillows"...
Just had to toss in  this cute anchor pillow which rests in the white wicker chair.
A view of the bed linens, bedside table and lamp..
What about this whimsical Nautical chandy?
I just LOVE the beachy chic furniture!
all shabbily white and wrapped in timeless love..

with an array of coastal accessories..

Nautical accessories..
There are all sorts of paintings and pictures of coastal beachiness..

so many choices to make this beachy room all yours...
I would LOVE taking it all home with me..

one final look..with a big heavy SIGH.....
all can be found at :
tell them I sent you...
love that place!!!

Here's another of my favorites from Benoit:

Shotgun Row

Last evening closer to home..views from my backyard..
across the street
From the neighbor's dock..looking west..
and finally as the sun sank out of sight..
a heron headed home to roost for the night..
And now for my most favorite shade of BLUE...
My darling GRAND...Brax who turned 9 months old on the 12th..
shared a bit of Colorado Autumn in the park with me..
miss him terribly!
toes in the grass..strange textures..

Think I'll pull some of the blades...

YAY gramma..this smile and hug is just for YOU!

A message from Brax..

Hi Folks..
Brax here with the latest updates of Colorado happenings..
for my Grampa and Gramma down in Florida..
miss them too much!
My obligatory cheesecake shot at 9 months...
now moving right along..

Have been so busy having fun with my folks..
we really enjoy the great outdoors..
we never go out without proper protection from the sun..
here in the mountains of Colorado, we are much closer..
sunscreen and a hat are necessities..
we also include bug repellant !
As usual, I am the apple of my parent's eyes..
so my job is to entertain them..
this is accomplished by looking adorable at all times....
and turning on the baby charm..
my Mom eats it up..
capturing every moment of my babyhood for posterity..
yep I can smile in a heartbeat at the sight of a camera!
any camera!

Don'tcha just want to cover my cheeks with kisses?
I can giggle on demand for a smile from my Mommy!

And boy howdy..did baby Brax ever make three!
Love my folks!
this much..well, that's as wide as my hand will allow!
Had to break out my winter wear..temps have changed a lot!

we even had SNOW..just a dusting..but SNOW IS SNOW!

Here I am sitting by the fireplace..taking the chill off..
turning on the charm as usual...

Finally..Kicking back and to man  with dad..
waiting for dinner..
here she comes..dinner on the fly..
Love, Brax
p.s.  Can't wait to see what's up with Halloween!
P.P.S..check out my buddy Daven at his Gramma Kat's place: Gramma Kat

Wow!..what a whirlwind!..
to say busy would simply be an understatement..

so let's go with "Life happens"..

Hello October!
Late last nite,YOU arrived noisely at my house..
waking everyone with your clamor!
Today you've gifted me with rain showers..

sunshine.. both with and without the rain..
Blue skies with big white puffies sailing by..
yes..quite breezy..
but shirt-sleeve comfortable..

seafood festival..NOT,,

was muggy..and crowded..
Update...nine days later..
where has the time gone?

I've put many miles on my car..
traveling along the coast from here..
to Panama City..
with stops in between along 30-A..
beautiful views..
what's up Blogger..?
you will not work with me! WHY!!?

wanted so badly to post something Pink today..
no can do!

but mostly wanted to share pics of my GRAND Brax..
