Wednesday

Mardi Gras..
Some call it Carnival.
 Others, Fat Tuesday.
Most Americans, however, know today's celebration by its French name: Mardi Gras. The annual New Orleans bacchanal will reach its ostentatious climax in the French Quarter this evening. But Mardi Gras isn't just a Louisiana affair. People in cities all over the world are celebrating the occasion, from Rio de Janeiro and Sydney to Venice and Cologne.
Personally, I grew up attending Mardi Gras in New Orleans....
and also had the opportunity to experience Carnival in Spain..
Mind blowing!
but also FUN!
enjoy a few more photos of both..

The use of masks clouded the identities of participants, effectively breaking down the social hierarchy during the celebration.

  2. It does look like a lot of fun but there are far too many people for me. That empty beach is more my style.

  3. I gave up FB last year and then when I got back on it I wasn't interested anymore. Loved all your photos and especially the beach.

  4. Mardi Gras looks like a riot, I imagine it would be lots of fun to see every one in their costumes but quickly become overwhelming. I prefer the quietude of the peaceful beach :) A great way to end your WW display

  5. I've never ever been to Mardi Gras, but I bet it's quite an experience! I think I'd rather sit on that beach in the last shot though. It's definitely much more my speed!
    Happy REDnesday!

  8. Wow! I live in Alaska and have never been to carnival. It was fun seeing all of the costumes and happy people. The mask you highlighted was adorable. I am really glad I stopped by today and had a chance to celebrate with you.

  10. LOVE this! I wanted to run in and don some beads my daughter has from the Gasparilla celebration here while I read it!

How much fun, don't you just adore the costumes and makeup everyone wears? My favorite part? The food honey, the food! I want to suck the heads of a mess of crawfish and fill up on red beans and rice. Oh, but I'll have to save room for desserts, yep, I made that a plural. I'm all about desserts!

I don't do a lot on FB, just a great place to keep up with my son, nieces and nephews and a few friends who live out of state. Great to see their pics and what their doing. Other than that, it just eats into my blogging time and that's a bad thing, a very bad thing, lol.

I know if you ever said you were going to give up the beach, I'd have to come out to Colorado and check on you, because I know something would be wrong, very wrong.

I woke up to a very raining morning, but it's okay, the beach is still there!

    Hugs

  12. sure did enjoy those wonderful Mardi Gras shots!
Very nice job you did here.
Not sure yet what I give up for Lent...obviously it isn't wine since I am having a glass of the vino as I write this.
Not giving up FB either...my connection with the world. Maybe the junk food at Sam's that I eat daily? Good idea!!!

welcome to my world of salty sunkissed breezes..
where time is not measured..
linger leisurely..
sift sugary white sand between your toes..
Make and take those wonderful memories..
leaving behind..only your footprints...
