Happens every year about this time...
Labor Day weekend usually indicates the end of summer..
not so much anymore..
the Tourist Development Commi$$ion insists on keeping the coffers full...
We've just finished Thunder on the Beach...Motorcycles..
such a pleasant change from rowdy Spring Breakers..
Every size, shape, color..filling the roadways, hotels, and restaurants...ca-ching!!!
but wait....
the weather is beautiful..humidity has been down to the VERY tolerable level..
now locals can venture out and enjoy our natural treasure..
our glorious sparkling emerald green waters ..
kissing those squeaky,sugary white sands..
it's all ours...
until ..
Thanksgiving..
that's when the Snowbirds begin arriving for winter..

yes,, today is My day..
but..once you've crossed the 50th mark..
your birthday holds way too much to celebrate on just one day..
therefore..one celebrates every day the entire birth month!
awesome idea!
My day started sweetly..
hubby was attired in a favorite BLEU shirt..
with RED tie..
made me smile!
especially when I sat down and joined him with my coffee..
a beautiful Birthday Card was waiting for me!!!.

After sending him off with a kiss..
here I sit, checking messages on email and facebook..
enjoying my final cup before tackling the tasks of Monday..
Once done..I'm free to cruise the beach with Nikon..
or..maybe I'll get an early start on my Christmas shopping..
but today is my day to enjoy...gonna do just that!

Blue Monday
Monday....how do I love thee?
Looking out my window, I see clearing skies..
touches of BLUE among the white cloud cover..
As you well know, the gulf coast had all eyes focused on Hurricane Karen..which was supposed to make landfall on Saturday..
however, with upper level drying winds, she basically lost the winds of her sails..and was downgraded to a wet messy tropical storm..
But not before allowing this beautiful dawn on Saturday morning..
what a glorious start to my day!
Like everyone else in their right mind, I checked and replenished items in my "Hurricane Preparedness Pantry"..just in case!
Bottled water keeps indefinitely,as do candles, checked the supply of Flashlight batteries..as well as items such as manual can opener, knives, utensils, paper goods..also checked expiration dates on canned goods..
Then off I went, Nikon fully charged..list ready.
The day was gorgeous!.
stopped by my favorite weed patch to see the butterflies..
so many..so hard to capture..
we zipped out to the beach.. to see the waves..
the surfers..
and Bikers..
everywhere..
Thunder Beach weekend..(an annual event)
most were very courteous..
such beautiful Motorcycles..!
filled my gas tank..always do this to be ready to evacuate..
stopped by the grocery store for bread and milk..
back to the beach for more pics..
by now..the sun was getting low...
joined this group of sunset watchers...
for this....
back home..
just in time..
the rains came pouring down..
accompanied to the booms of thunder and flashing lightning...
settled in for the nite..
toasty and secure..
wishing you blue skies and sunshine..

Today was a typical Sunday..
slept late..
awoke to kitty kisses..
and the sound of pouring rain..
tripped out to the kitchen..
turned to coffee on..
fed, fresh watered for the furbabies..
opened the kitty door access to the patio,,
braved the elements to retreive the Sunday paper..
picture me in jammies with an umbrella.. ;) !
Lingering over those first cups of coffee..
we smile, laugh, yes even giggle..
as we read the newspaper..
solving the problems of the world..
Just another Sunday morning pleasure..
Afterwards,,we plan our day..
today was to run out to his office..
while he was working on charts,
I was measuring wall space for his diplomas..
and pictures to be mounted..
then.. out to breakfast!
This is a treat as I usually prepare it at home!
Today we tried a new place..
with the best OJ ever!!
It is shipped direct from Indian River FL growers.
Tastes just like fresh squeezed!
Breakfast done, errands run..back home for Football..
Me.. working on photo editing..
finally..I need to stretch..
take a little jaunt over to the beach..
easy task now that the number of tourists have dwindled..
still a trickle tho..access is so much easier..
The surf was rough, with RED flags indicating RIP currents..
mostly folks were ignoring the warnings,swimming anyway.
Between rain squalls, the sun would shine brightly,
illuminating the BLUE sky...
and EMERALD waters...
Next, making my way back to the car,
couldn't help but notice the colorful buildings around Pier Park..
as well as the beautiful floral plantings..
Just as I was really getting into the phototaking..
the heavens opened up...
and I beat a hasty retreat back to the DRYNESS of my car...
oh well..at least fresh air, exercise and sunshine...
all were enjoyed AT THE BEACH!!
